• Due: Read and annotate your group’s assigned chapters of The Scarlet Letter.
• Class: Discussion of November’s common assessment; group work on presentations.
Tuesday, Dec. 18th (S)
• Due: Vocabulary sentences for Unit #5. You are also recommended to bring an article about the novel to help your group; extra credit for bringing an article from an academic database (see reverse).
• Class: Group work on presentations; vocabulary review.
Wednesday, Dec. 19th (U)
• Due: Study for vocabulary quiz.
• Class: Vocabulary quiz on Unit #5; Hawthorne’s life and times; touch base with groups.
Thursday, Dec. 20th (M)
• Due: Come with materials to work on group presentations.
• Class: Work on group presentations in Room 321.
Friday, Dec. 21st (T)
• Due: Continue working on group presentations.
• Class: Poetry and parody: Edgar Allan Poe’s “The Raven.”

Reminder: We will begin presentations on The Scarlet Letter on the Friday we get back to school. The tentative calendar looks like this:
• Friday, January 4th: Chapters 5 & 6; Chapters 7 & 8
• Monday, January 7th: Chapters 9 & 10
• Tuesday, January 8th: Chapters 11 & 12; Chapters 13 & 14
• Wednesday, January 9th: Chapters 15 & 16; Chapters 17 & 18
You must email your presentation to skitsis@arlington.k12.ma.us (and copy yourself!) the day before your presentation (or earlier!).
