• Class: Discuss “The Road Not Taken”; share drafts; finish working on quotation charts.

Tuesday, Dec. 11th (M)
• Due: Transcendentalist scrapbook project due today.
• Class: Share scrapbooks. Introduction to Hawthorne and The Scarlet Letter.

Wednesday, Dec. 12th (T)
• Due: Vocabulary exercises for Unit #5.
• Class: “Questioning the Author” with Ch. 1 of The Scarlet Letter. Explain group presentation assignment.

Thursday, Dec. 13th (W)
• Due: Read Ch. 2 & 3 of The Scarlet Letter and complete journal entry #1. See the back of your printed class calendar for an example!
• Class: Discussion of the reading. Public humiliation as punishment. Explain group presentation assignment. Model project with Ch. 4 of The Scarlet Letter.

• Due: Read and annotate your group’s chapters for presentation (also read Ch. 4).
